ELIGIBILITY AND SELECTION CRITERIA
While our primary focus is on the visual arts, we welcome applications from individuals across a wide range of backgrounds and disciplines. We accept both emerging and established artists; however, it is essential for all applicants to demonstrate a strong commitment to their practice.
We seek residents who will benefit most from our residency program, prioritizing diversity in mediums, backgrounds, and ideas, with a strong emphasis on honesty and originality in their work. Given the number of submissions, we cannot accept all applicants. We recommend that artists apply at least six months in advance.

WHEN TO APPLY
We accept applications on an ongoing basis with no fixed deadlines. To secure your preferred dates and allow time for potential funding applications, we recommend applying six months to one year in advance. However, due to occasional unexpected openings, opportunities may also arise on shorter notice.
AFTER YOU APPLY
You can expect a response from us within two weeks to one month after submitting your application. If selected as a finalist, we'll invite you to a casual interview with two team members to get to know you better and discuss whether the residency aligns with your goals. No special preparation is needed. If you're chosen to participate in our program, you'll receive an invitation letter within a week following the interview.
RESIDENCY FEES AND FUNDING
Many applicants secure funding for their residency expenses through cultural ministries or other funding programs. As an independent nonprofit without government funding, Casa Lü is made possible by the support and participation of our residents. Because of this, we are committed to supporting you in securing funding and to continually improving the residency experience for all our residents.
Once admitted, we will provide an invitation letter to assist with your funding applications. You can explore various funding resources here, and we are happy to guide you toward potential opportunities.
Alternatively, you may choose to cover the residency costs yourself. Details about residency fees can be found here.
